Luis Royo is recognized as one of the best fantasy artists of the era and here is one of his painted masterpieces titled The Touch of Ice, featuring Hinatunaone. It's incarnation as a fine art statue by Shunjii Hagii is something for collectors who never get enough of Royo. Staring at This Medusa Can Turn You into Stone

You're not supposed to stare at Medusa. She can easily turn you into stone at a glance. Apart from the snakes on her head, it's hard to say how Medusa was generally depicted in ancient times. If she were real, nobody would know what she really looked like since anyone who would have seen her would have likely been petrified. But snakes would suggest her as ugly and that's enough to make you look (perhaps just out of curiosity).

But there's this modern interpretation of Medusa, inspired by the work of artist Luis Royo, Medusa's Gaze (left) and sculpted by Shungo Yazawa, that's meant to be looked at - never mind the snakes. Here, Medusa is a temptress in a scanty huntress attire with leather stockings. Perhaps it's a repressed timidity that's causing her to cover herself up?
